Swimwear of the 1900's
The dawn of the 20th Century and prior were days of conservatism: especially in swimwear. During the 1900’s swim suits for both men and women were full coverage; until, the 1910’s when the hemline started to creep up to the knee. Also, men had the luxury of sleeveless options, which looked similar to a tank-top with shorts. This period was prior to the “Roaring”-–and rebellious—-Twenties, which helped cause the shift to the more “racy” swimsuits of the future.
